From this round-up forth, we are shaking things up a little by presenting the top read posts on aBlogtoWatch for the month, as well as interesting watch reads from around the Internet. During the month of July, it seemed clear that the trend of “vintage-inspired” was still going strong and some of the most read articles this past month included the new Seiko Prospex Diver SLA017J as well as the Hamilton Intra-Matic 68 – two very charming vintage-inspired pieces.

In this round-up, we also take a look at the topic of online watch sales. Increasingly, people are simply buying their stuff online and shunning traditional brick-and-mortar stores. So why is it still so hard for people to buy watches online? Should watch brands make it easier for people to buy their watches online?

1. IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Watch Review

BEST FROM: aBlogtoWatch & Friends August 4, 2017 ABTW Round-Ups

IWC is a popular brand for many reasons. They have an inimitable style, a strong heritage, and are, for the most part, quite reasonably priced (especially if you stay clear of models with in-house movements). Among its numerous collections, the one that most watch lovers gravitate toward is their line of Pilot’s Watches. And one of the hot favorites for IWC buyers is the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph, known more simply to IWC followers as the ref. 3777. It is a step up from the more basic three-handed Pilot’s Watch and it features the Pilot’s Watch’s distinctive style plus a chronograph complication. Find out why we are fans of this watch by hitting the link below.

2. First Seiko Diver Prospex SLA017 ‘Re-Creation’ & SPB051/53 ‘Re-Interpretation’ Watches Hands-On

Fans of Seiko went into a frenzy earlier this year when the brand announced the new Diver Prospex SLA017 at Baselworld 2017. For readers who don’t understand the fuss, the Diver Prospex SLA017 is essentially a modern reissue of Seiko’s very first dive watch, the 62MAS that was introduced in 1965. Alongside the SLA017, Seiko also introduced two new modern reinterpretations of the 62MAS in the form of the SPB051 and SPB053. I wrote previously that I have no doubts that these three will be some of the hottest-selling dive watches of 2017, and it seems that you guys agree as well.

2017 marks the 60th anniversary of what is surely one of the most prominent watches ever – the Omega Speedmaster. Despite being six decades old, the Speedmaster that we can find in shops today has remained relatively unchanged, which is a strong testament to its well-thought-out design. Over the past sixty years, Omega has released numerous versions of Speedmaster watches, some of which are extremely rare and important. This article offers a quick recap of the history of the Speedmaster as well as highlights of some of the more prominent Speedmaster pieces.

4. Hamilton Intra-Matic 68 Watch Hands-On

BEST FROM: aBlogtoWatch & Friends August 4, 2017 ABTW Round-Ups

The new Hamilton Intra-Matic 68 must surely be one of the most charming new watches to be announced at Baselworld 2017. It is based on a vintage Hamilton from the ‘60s and features loads of vintage styling cues like the reverse panda dial, straight-ish lugs, and pump-style chronograph pushers. It is not perfect, however. At 42mm wide, the case is a little too wide. It is also far too thick as well. Nevertheless, I think the overall look of the watch is spot on. So if you are willing to overlook the slightly larger case size, what you have is a watch that is dripping with vintage swag.

5. Sinn BLU1 Limited Edition Watch For Page & Cooper

BEST FROM: aBlogtoWatch & Friends August 4, 2017 ABTW Round-Ups

The Sinn U1 is a very popular tool watch and it has spawned numerous special limited edition versions over its long and illustrious lifespan. The newest limited edition version of the U1 is aptly called the BLU1. Why? Because it has a graduated blue dial that instantly reminds me of Rolex’s Deepsea with the D-Blue dial. The BLU1 is produced especially for London-based Page & Cooper, one of Sinn’s retail partners. Two versions of this watch will be offered, one in plain German submarine stainless steel and another in fully black tegimented German submarine stainless steel. If you like watches with blue dials, you’ll probably like this too. But hurry, only 50 pieces will be made.

6. Omega Seamaster Diver 300M ‘Commander’s Watch’ Limited Edition Inspired By James Bond 007 Hands-On

Apart from the motion, the case shape, and that sandwich dial, the other signature element of the Luminor family of watches is that lever-operated safety system for dogging the crown down. The curved shoulder lever has a small roller on the end of the which, when you lock it down, then presses the wafer-shaped crown against a gasket in the tube, sealing the eye. It’s more complicated than a screw-down crown, but it features a very positive system for ensuring water stays from this situation and it is a great alternative to the somewhat fiddly feeling of a screwed-down crown (and there is no risk of cross-threading either, as sometimes occurs with watches whose crowns are screwed into position). The other huge benefit of this locking lever is it is just plain fun to play, and although to do this too much is kind of against the soul of this watch (the whole point of the eight day movement was supposed to decrease to a minimum the period of time the crown is in an unlocked place) in precisely the exact same time you will probably find the impulse to play it irresistible.Despite the size, this is only one of those easiest-to-wear watches I have ever had on. As a result of the thick but still pliable strap, which tapers in thickness in the lugs into the tip, it feels really secure and it is a joy to have on. The very best thing about it, other than the chance to play with the locking lever, is the dial; this thing glows like a harvest moon. This is a tiny private note; my very first memory of a watch was my Dad’s Benrus, shining like crazy in 1968, therefore any watch that lights up at the night that the way PAM 560 does is okay by me. The motion is a far better piece of work than I gave it credit for initially. It’s fair, it looks bulletproof and it’s plenty of really pleasant chronometric characteristics difficult to find at this cost, and if you would like something with the amount of design the PAM 560 has this also includes a totally free balance and 8 times of gas at the tank it has a really small list. I am a late convert to the Panerai Watches On Amazon Replica faithful and I am not saying there are other watches available for this price point that don’t offer a wonderful value as well — but then again, they aren’t Panerais.

This watch came as a complete surprise to me. There isn’t a new James Bond movie in the cinema and 2017 doesn’t mark any major anniversary for the character, so why is there a new James Bond watch? That said, the new Seamaster Diver 300M ‘Commander’s Watch,’ which is based on the classic Omega Seamaster Diver 300M, with its bright white dial and bi-colored bezel is a pretty attractive watch for sure. Hit the link below to find out why it is called the ‘Commander’s Watch’ and to get a closer look at the latest limited edition watch from Omega that pays tribute to the world’s most famous spy.
